Eight of the top ten devices activated for enterprise use in Q4 were Apple devices

Image
Who says that iOS isn't represented in the workplace? According to Good Technology's quarterly Device Activations Report, iOS devices accounted for a whopping 77% of activations in the sector, an improvement of 71% from the prior year. Android's share was 22.7%, down from 29% in 2011's fourth quarter. The study was made by Good Technology which provides security for mobile devices and analyzed activations made by its clients which includes half the Fortune 100. The top three devices activated for enterprise use in the fourth quarter of 2012 were all Apple iPhone models. The Apple iPhone 5 accounted for about 33% of activations, and that was followed by the better than 20% of all enterprise based activations that belonged to the Apple iPhone 4S . The first non-iOS model in the top ten was the Samsung Galaxy S III which finished 6th with slightly more than 5% of enterprise based activations. The only other non-iOS model in the top ten was the Motorola DROID RAZR whi

Motorola's X-Phone: is it real game changer?

Image
Earlier today, there was a report that the Motorola X Phone, which is expected to be the flagship announcement at Google I/O this year, would be a "game- changer", but as expected, there really wasn't any information on exactly how the X Phone would go about changing the game. So, we strapped on our thinking caps and tried to come up with some possibilities for what Motorola/Google could unveil that would really change the game. First, we have to make it clear that we are trying to imagine what the X Phone could offer that would be a true game-changer, and not merely just an evolution of current technology. Because of that (not to mention that the software was mentioned specifically in the earlier rumor), it seems pretty safe to say that the hardware will not be anything game-changing, so let's get that out of the way now. The Hardware This is a Motorola phone, so we fully expect it to look the part. Based on educated guesses and previous rumors , it seems reas

Who made the best looking phones ¿

Look, it is hard to judge design as it is sometimes so subjective, but there seem to be some general agreement on what’s good and what’s not. And the just unveiled HTC One has pretty much swept us away with its refined aluminum unibody, carefully chamfered edges and thin profile. Slick looks. But you cannot deny it also looks very similar to the iPhone 5 in its aluminum aesthetic. Then we have the gorgeous glass Sony Xperia Z that is not just beautiful but also practical, dust and water resistant. On the other side of the fence are Samsung’s devices, a uniform bunch with a soft, glazed polycarbonate plastic that feels great to hold, but does not necessarily have the same solid feeling. And finally, there is Nokia, with its colorful plastic Lumia smartphones that are fun with their vibrant reds, yellows and blues. But just as Samsung, Nokia is on the side of the fence preferring plastic to the intricacies of aluminum.

Qualcomm launches Snapdragon BatteryGuru, an app to extend your battery life

Image
Xiam Techonologies Limited, a Qualcomm company has launched an application named Snapdragon BatteryGuru, which extends the battery performance and improves the overall user experience of the Snapdragon smartphone. Snapdragon BatteryGuru is expected to deliver a long battery life and make you look for a charger less often. The app learns how to use your Snapdragon smartphone by optimizing its power consumption without affecting its functionality. The BatteryGuru does not require any user configuration either, as it learns and adjusts the settings to match your usage. The application would require 2-4 days, before it learns about your usage behavior and then alerts you when it is ready to extend the battery life. Snapdragon BatteryGuru is currently available in its Beta version and the app only supports Snapdragon-powered smartphones in North America and European territory. You can download the application for free from the Google Play Store. We are not quite sure how an app can

3GHz NovaThor L8580 CPU to debut on MWC 2013 floors

Image
ST-Ericsson unveiled their latest 2.5GHz NovaThor L8580 CPU earlier in this year, but the company is now readying to showcase an even faster version of the chip at MWC 2013. The four Cortex A9 cores residing in the NovaThor L8580 (or eQuad, as it's also dubbed) that's going to be on display at MWC are going to be clocked at 3GHz. In order to not drain the battery in a heartbeat, ST-Ericsson have build the chipset using the 28nm FD- SOI manufacturing technology. The company has also utilized ModAp, which optimizes the execution of apps and as a result runs them up to 35% faster. The chip comes with support for dual cameras (of up to 20MP), HD Voice and LTE. The GPU is going to be of the PowerVR SGX544 variety clocked at 600MHz. Naturally, the 3GHz NovaThor L8580 CPU in question is just a prototype at the moment, but hopefully, we'll get to play with it in Barcelona and put it through some benchmarking.

Leak new Sony Xperia C680X test scores hint at 1080p screen, 4.2 Jelly Bean

Image
Sony unveiled its first two flagship Androids for the year early on at CES – the C660X Xperia Z and C650X Xperia ZL – but there seems to be another high-ender on the way, the Sony C680X. The model name cropped up at html5test.com, a website that benchmarks a browser’s compatibility with the HTML5 standards. The browser was running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean device with a 1080p screen. Unfortunately, we don’t know how big that screen was. We checked the other usual sources (Picasa, GLBenchmark, NenaMark, Indonesia’s Postel) for more info on the device but there’s nothing yet. Considering that the difference between the C650X Xperia ZL and C660X Xperia Z is mostly in the external shell (different dimensions and waterproofing), how much different can the C680X Xperia be? And will there be a C670X? We might find out at the MWC, but seeing how late the first leak about the C680X is, we don’t think it’s particularly likely. The C210X Xperia L and C530X Xperia SP are more likely candida

Samsung galaxy s4 leak

Samsung Galaxy S IV to retain home button, ignore S Pen: Reports Information about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV has been leaking out left, right and centre, and today, we’re hearing that Samsung will be retaining the physical home button on their upcoming phone after all. What that means is that the capacitive duo (back and home) will flank the home button we’ve grown so used to seeing on the previous Samsung devices. Along with the news of the physical home button, there is also word that the S Pen would not be included in the phone, but it would seem that Samsung has developed some non-touch based gestures that would make their way into the phone. Earlier, benchmarks of a Korea-only build of the purported Galaxy S IV showed up on the GLBenchmark site, running a Qualcomm MSM8960 chipset as against the new 8-core Exynos processor we had hoped it would ship with. While the benchmarks are only for the Korea specific version of the phone, it is very much possible that the intern

Real Racing 3 will be free when it lands on Android and iOS at the end of this month

Image
This particular news surely caught me by surprise, folks! Firemonkey’s highly anticipated Real Racing 3 video game will be available for free when it launches on Android and iOS on February 28. The word was delivered by Nick Earl – Electronic Arts’ senior vice president for mobile and social game development. Offering the third installment of the Real Racing franchise for free is a massive departure from the norm for Electronic Arts. Usually, the game’s price has always been in the $5-10 range. Mr. Earl explained the shift in EA’s pricing strategy with the gamers’ move in “extraordinary” numbers to mobile gaming. Of course, being able to boot the game for free likely means that there will be plenty of options to spend money on in-app purchases. There are no details on those just yet. Real Racing 3 promises to be an epic experience for speed fans. The title will offer 900 different event and 600 total hours of gameplay at launch. More content will be added through subsequent u

To Exercise Or Not To Exercise- How Would You Answer?

There are many facts why people do not exercise. The number one reason for not exercising is of course, "I don't have the time." "I'm too busy!" This, unfortunately, is the major reason why some people do not exercise on a regular basis. These people indicate that they know they should do more exercise and that they plan to in the future when "things are less hectic". One example is a young person who will say that they will soon be established in a career and then they will have the time to exercise. Does this sound familiar? Older people say that they wish they had taken the time to be active when they were younger. Another big reason people do not exercise more often is "It's too inconvenient." Many who avoid exercise do so because it is inconvenient. They are exercise procrastinators. Specific reasons for procrastinating include: "It makes me sweaty"; "It messes up my hair"; and "I just can't find t

HTC One official photo breaks cover

Image
An official press photo of the HTC One has leaked showcasing the phone's front panel. The source is evleaks and judging from its history of leaks, then we have every reason to believe this is the real deal. Rather surprisingly, the HTC One get rid of the traditional three-button combo and features just back and home buttons below its display. As usual, both buttons are of the capacitive touch variety. Another interesting bit are the dual-speakers placed either side of the screen. However, the key selling point of the smartphone remains its 4.7-inch 1080p display with a pixel density of 468ppi. Judging from the press photo the One is going to run the latest version of Sense UI (5.0), which falls in line with previous reports. Those earlier reports also suggested the HTC One is running Android 4.2 on a Qualcomm APQ8064 chipset with four 1.7GHz Krait cores and 2GB of RAM. Yesterday, the first photo snapped using the smartphone's 13MP camera showed up on Flickr. It's y

Sony Xperia Z video camera’s low-light performance compared to the Galaxy Note 2 and Nexus 4

Image
The hotly anticipated flagship device from Sony has been the spotlight for all the good reasons lately. First it was the Sony Xperia Z’s camera burst mode that impressed and now, the smartphone’s video recording has been compared to that of Galaxy Note 2 and Nexus 4 in a video. In a video taken in the dark hours, Sony Xperia Z’s camera tends to consistently resolve more detail than the Galaxy Note 2 and the Nexus 4. Its autofocus tends to hunt quite more than the other two, resulting in the occasional out of focus frames, but it doesn’t seem too bad. The video also switches audio between the smartphones and compares the audio quality between the heavyweights, although it’s hard to judge which one has the advantage there. The video also shows what the HDR mode of the Xperia Z can do, but since low-light is not where that feature gets to shine, its performance is hardly what you’d call impressive.

From Nuclear to Turbine Technology

The Tsunami that hits Japan on March 11, 2011 has caused a tremendous impact. The nuclear meltdowns are reported to be the biggest disaster in the history of nuclear energy. It released a very dangerous radioactive material all through the 12 miles radius. But that is not the worse. Long exposures to the radiation can cause the people of Fukushima district to have a terminally disease, such as cancer. It would take decades to decontaminate the surrounding areas. The event is a wakeup call for other country that use nuclear as their source energy to make their nuclear plant safer. Japan is considered to be one of the nations that prioritized its citizen safety through advanced technologies. But, when nature stroked; even the advanced and modern technology unable to prevent the disaster. Sure, all efforts can be made to make every nuclear plant became safer. But, we have to ask ourselves; would we want that kind of technology next to our doorstep? It's like having a ticking time b

Perfection of attract profile

When networking online you need to ensure your profile gives the right impression of yourself and what you do. This includes your photo as well as the "bio" or description. If you are starting out and entering your profile details, take time to make sure it accurately portrays what you do. If you are changing a social media account, e.g. Twitter, from a private account, to now promote your business, make sure you update all the information. I recently saw a profile for a business that had obviously been a personal account before, as the bio was completely irrelevant to what they were trying to promote and full of swear words! Remember, if someone comes across you on sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc., they are probably going to look at your profile very early on. So don't lose potential new business because your profile doesn't truly reflect your business, service or product. Another thing to ensure is the photo you use is an accurate likeness of yours

Blackberry out from Japanese market..

BlackBerry, formerly known as RIM will be bidding a farewell to the Japanese smartphone market. The company won't be bringing its latest BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 devices to the land of rising sun, according to Nikkei . BlackBerry's market share in Japan has fallen to just 0.3% and this has resulted in the move out. Furthermore, BlackBerry is reportedly not willing to invest in offering Japanese language support with its latest BlackBerry 10 as the poor sales will prevent it from paying back. There is no official confirmation from BlackBerry yet, but we'll be on the lookout for more info on the question.
